The gay marriage topic

Gay marriage is currently the topic of everything. Those who are gay or support it, are so happy about this decision. Many others do not. This is causing arguments, separation and hatred.

I personally do not believe being gay is a choice. First, who would choose to live a harder lifestyle? If it were a choice, that would probably mean a straight person could just as easily choose to be gay. I think any straight person would strongly deny that as possible. That means we are left with people born into a certain lifestyle. Now what do you do with that? I will get there in a moment.

If you believe any part of the Bible is true, it must all be true. 2 Timothy 3:16 states, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." That means, for any answer, I am to look to the Bible, not man. I am to use those answers to lead others to Jesus.

As everyone else is currently speaking out about this, it would be foolish of me to not speak out also. To defend my God and my faith.

Many are saying that love is love, and Christians are supposed to love because that's what Jesus did. But first, we need Jesus to begin with. So how does that work?

You must confess of your sins, and receive Him as your personal Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9 says it like this, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." You must believe in your heart. And in doing so, your heart will be transformed.

How do you get to the point of being able to confess and believe that Jesus is Lord? I believe either through a divine experience, or through seeking Him and truly wanting Him in your life. This means looking to the Bible, learning, Bible studies, and then living it to our best ability.

Good works can not save you, only Jesus can. However, when you are saved, your heart will be transformed which will cause you to desire to serve God and live according to His will. If you live in the Spirit, you will find your will often directly aligns with His. So what is His will?

Living according to His will means striving not to sin, to do what is right, to live in the Spirit and not the flesh. Many have been arguing that Christians are defending their anti-gay-marriage stance with passages from the Old Testament. We no longer live in the Old Testament, we live in the New Testament, thus they are saying these arguments are invalid. Ok, then let's look at the New Testament.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 states, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God."

If these people will not inherit the kingdom of God, then those things are not to take place here on earth. They are wrong. But I will not point the finger at homosexuality. There are many sins, this is only one of them. I am a sinner, you are a sinner, we all are, gay or straight or anything else. So then what? Are we all condemned to hell? This is where people start arguing about grace. They say that grace covers all sins. But we're missing something huge here.

In order to have grace, you must have Jesus. So that takes us back. Accept Jesus. In accepting Jesus, your heart will be transformed and you will strive to live according to His will. Those who live in the Spirit, rather than the flesh, following God's desires, rather than earthly desires, will not perpetually sin. Yes, we will sin, we will mess up. But we should quickly realize that and get back on track. In any sin.

Grace will cover your sin. Your sins will be nailed to that cross. But I don't believe perpetual sin is the same thing. When you realize your sin and choose to keep doing it, not even at least striving not to do it, what does that really say about your commitment to Jesus? Jesus is supposed to come before all else. Living in perpetual sin would be placing yourself above Him, your earthly desires above His heavenly will.

So if you understand all of that so far, my belief is homosexuality is a sin just like anything else and you must strive not to live in perpetual sin. Thus, even if you can't choose to not be gay, you can choose to not act upon your desires. Just like someone who is single can choose to not act upon their desires, as physical intimacy outside of marriage is a sin. If you strive to do this, and get off track, confess your sin, repent, and get back on track. That's where grace comes in.

Do I hate someone who is gay? No. Do I hate someone who sins? No. Actually it is quite the opposite. I choose to love, love as an action. God is love. Thus, in loving others, I will point them to Jesus, to the cross. I am not the judge, nor is anyone else. But there is an ultimate judge and He will judge all.

The end of times feels near. If it happened today are you ready? Have you given your life to Him? Do you know for absolute certainty you will go to Heaven? Do you know that if you don't go to Heaven, that means you will go to hell? I don't know about you, but I'm not going to take a chance on risking that.

Christianity should be about love, for God is love. But love is not gay marriage, or even straight marriage, as marriage is defined in society today. I don't feel every marriage of man and woman is a marriage God intended. For if God is not in it, it is just two humans saying they commit to something on paper, a paper that can be destroyed by another paper, divorce.

True marriage is a union of a man and woman through God Himself. It is a covenant, a vow, the union of two souls becoming one.

So as everyone is arguing for or against gay-marriage, I don't think there is a marriage even there to argue for or against. Civil union, yes. Marriage, no.

John 3:3 states, "Jesus replied, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again.'" Matthew 7:21 states, "Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in Heaven."

I love Jesus and I will defend Him and His Word always. If you are standing up for God, and the world- which is under control of the devil- is standing against you, it probably means you are doing something right. Keep going.
