The gay marriage topic

Gay marriage is currently the topic of everything. Those who are gay or support it, are so happy about this decision. Many others do not. This is causing arguments, separation and hatred.

I personally do not believe being gay is a choice. First, who would choose to live a harder lifestyle? If it were a choice, that would probably mean a straight person could just as easily choose to be gay. I think any straight person would strongly deny that as possible. That means we are left with people born into a certain lifestyle. Now what do you do with that? I will get there in a moment.

If you believe any part of the Bible is true, it must all be true. 2 Timothy 3:16 states, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." That means, for any answer, I am to look to the Bible, not man. I am to use those answers to lead others to Jesus.

As everyone else is currently speaking out about this, it would be foolish of me to not speak out also. To defend my God and my faith.

Many are saying that love is love, and Christians are supposed to love because that's what Jesus did. But first, we need Jesus to begin with. So how does that work?

You must confess of your sins, and receive Him as your personal Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9 says it like this, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." You must believe in your heart. And in doing so, your heart will be transformed.

How do you get to the point of being able to confess and believe that Jesus is Lord? I believe either through a divine experience, or through seeking Him and truly wanting Him in your life. This means looking to the Bible, learning, Bible studies, and then living it to our best ability.

Good works can not save you, only Jesus can. However, when you are saved, your heart will be transformed which will cause you to desire to serve God and live according to His will. If you live in the Spirit, you will find your will often directly aligns with His. So what is His will?

Living according to His will means striving not to sin, to do what is right, to live in the Spirit and not the flesh. Many have been arguing that Christians are defending their anti-gay-marriage stance with passages from the Old Testament. We no longer live in the Old Testament, we live in the New Testament, thus they are saying these arguments are invalid. Ok, then let's look at the New Testament.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 states, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God."

If these people will not inherit the kingdom of God, then those things are not to take place here on earth. They are wrong. But I will not point the finger at homosexuality. There are many sins, this is only one of them. I am a sinner, you are a sinner, we all are, gay or straight or anything else. So then what? Are we all condemned to hell? This is where people start arguing about grace. They say that grace covers all sins. But we're missing something huge here.

In order to have grace, you must have Jesus. So that takes us back. Accept Jesus. In accepting Jesus, your heart will be transformed and you will strive to live according to His will. Those who live in the Spirit, rather than the flesh, following God's desires, rather than earthly desires, will not perpetually sin. Yes, we will sin, we will mess up. But we should quickly realize that and get back on track. In any sin.

Grace will cover your sin. Your sins will be nailed to that cross. But I don't believe perpetual sin is the same thing. When you realize your sin and choose to keep doing it, not even at least striving not to do it, what does that really say about your commitment to Jesus? Jesus is supposed to come before all else. Living in perpetual sin would be placing yourself above Him, your earthly desires above His heavenly will.

So if you understand all of that so far, my belief is homosexuality is a sin just like anything else and you must strive not to live in perpetual sin. Thus, even if you can't choose to not be gay, you can choose to not act upon your desires. Just like someone who is single can choose to not act upon their desires, as physical intimacy outside of marriage is a sin. If you strive to do this, and get off track, confess your sin, repent, and get back on track. That's where grace comes in.

Do I hate someone who is gay? No. Do I hate someone who sins? No. Actually it is quite the opposite. I choose to love, love as an action. God is love. Thus, in loving others, I will point them to Jesus, to the cross. I am not the judge, nor is anyone else. But there is an ultimate judge and He will judge all.

The end of times feels near. If it happened today are you ready? Have you given your life to Him? Do you know for absolute certainty you will go to Heaven? Do you know that if you don't go to Heaven, that means you will go to hell? I don't know about you, but I'm not going to take a chance on risking that.

Christianity should be about love, for God is love. But love is not gay marriage, or even straight marriage, as marriage is defined in society today. I don't feel every marriage of man and woman is a marriage God intended. For if God is not in it, it is just two humans saying they commit to something on paper, a paper that can be destroyed by another paper, divorce.

True marriage is a union of a man and woman through God Himself. It is a covenant, a vow, the union of two souls becoming one.

So as everyone is arguing for or against gay-marriage, I don't think there is a marriage even there to argue for or against. Civil union, yes. Marriage, no.

John 3:3 states, "Jesus replied, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again.'" Matthew 7:21 states, "Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in Heaven."

I love Jesus and I will defend Him and His Word always. If you are standing up for God, and the world- which is under control of the devil- is standing against you, it probably means you are doing something right. Keep going.

Explaining why

As I sit here weak and extremely fatigued, I find myself wanting to ask for prayer on facebook as usual, but not doing so. You see, through this illness and also in becoming a Christian, I have lost many relationships. People must get sick of me always asking for prayer or accommodations. They still don't understand how I can look fine but be so sick, or how I can do things almost normally but only for a very short time. And thus, they leave my life. And then those who do believe me, who do care, I know they are always praying for me. So I feel bad repeatedly asking. I feel like people will think I'm just complaining... one day about this, the next day about that, the next day back to this again. I mean people have got to be thinking how is that even possible? How can she have so many symptoms and how can those symptoms just come and go so quickly? Maybe people aren't thinking this but it's programmed into my head because of all the years I went undiagnosed that doctors said "it's just anxiety." It's not just anxiety. It's chronic horrible lyme disease.

That got me thinking of something I can explain here.

Lyme disease is mainly contracted by a tick bite (it can however happen in other ways also). Lyme can affect/harm any organ or system in the body. Brain, eyes, teeth, muscles, nerves, heart, lungs, joints, mood, etc.

Lyme disease is not the only infection the tick gives. There are multiple other infections a person can get which in general are called co-infections. This means even more problems.

Treatment for lyme and each co-infection is different. Treatment is long, could be life long, and very very taxing on the body. Medications are often rotated, each medication comes with side effects. When the medication works, most people "herx" which is symptoms getting much worse before getting any better.

So you have symptoms coming from lyme disease, one or more co-infections, medication side effects and herxing. Those symptoms can change month to month, day to day, even minute to minute. Symptoms can disappear at times or seemingly appear out of nowhere. Symptoms can get worse or get better. Over and over and over.

This isn't even mentioning if a person has other health problems in addition to lyme and co-infections such as Myasthenia Gravis, POTS, a blood clot disorder, immune deficiency, adrenal fatigue and a back problem. This also isn't mentioning "normal" sickness even healthy people get like sore throats, colds, flu, etc.

Combine all of that together and you have one serious mess of symptoms and sickness. This is why one day I will ask for prayer for my horrible abdominal symptoms, another day for my horrible joint pain, another day for my extreme weakness and fatigue, another day for my blurry vision, another day for my breathing problems. Many days more than one of those and many other symptoms.

I don't like having these problems. I don't like that people doubt me because I "look fine." I don't like that this illness makes me have to keep air circulating to breathe easier, AC at a lower temp because I am intolerant to heat, that I can't go outside if it's too hot or humid, that I can't carry my own laundry downstairs, that I can't go shopping at a mall all day, that I have to eat certain foods or I will flare badly. I don't like being a burden on others. I don't like asking for help. I don't like any of it, but it's what I have to deal with. It's what all of us with this have to deal with. And we really need and want awareness. That is why I keep speaking up about it and hoping someone out there is learning.

So like I mentioned in the beginning, I am very weak and fatigued today. It may be from a new medication I just started for a co-infection as a side effect or as herxing. Or it could be my lyme and/or MG flaring up. Who knows. What I do know is God is my strength that gets me through it. So if you wouldn't mind once again keeping me in prayer for strength, energy and endurance, for total healing if it's God's will, I would once again appreciate it. Thank you very much. God bless.

Can you serve God if you are disabled?

Can you serve God if you are disabled?

For a long time, I thought I can't fully serve God because I am not fully physically able-bodied. I thought people think I'm lazy laying around all day, and I fell into the trap of believing what others thought of me, instead of focusing on what God thought of me.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. God made me. I am a child of God. I am His.

So to answer the question of if you can serve God if you are disabled, let's look at what serving God truly means.

In order to serve someone, you must submit to them. Submitting to God first means to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. You must repent of your sins and give up your ways of living in the flesh with earthly desires, instead receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and walk through life in the Spirit.

In doing so it must be recognized that it is no longer about you, it is about Him. Everything you do should be for the cause of Christ Jesus. When you serve someone, you are doing something to help them, to build them up, to give. So when you serve God, you are doing something that will help advance his Kingdom, lead others to Jesus, acknowledge and praise Him as Lord, give of yourself to Him and to others.

So, can you serve God if you are disabled?

I recognized I was focusing on what I physically cannot do rather than what I can do. I was focusing on what I want to do rather than what God wants me to do. God created me and gave me a purpose in life. That purpose is not the same as anyone else's and that is ok.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

Turning the focus onto God, submitting to Him, living for Him, following His will rather than my own, I can do all things He intends for my life.

So yes, you can serve God if you are disabled.

How can you serve God if you are disabled?

First off, prayer. If you are mentally able, you can pray. Prayer is serving God. Prayer is saying hey God it is not about me, it is about You. Prayer is asking God knowing God knows better than you do. Prayer is thanking God knowing God provided all the many blessings in life you have. Prayer is crying out saying without You I am nothing. Prayer is centering your life and focus on the One who created You and loves you.

Prayer is serving others directly through God. Everyone is in need of something whether it be salvation, curing an illness, restoring a marriage, getting out of debt, etc. You can go directly to God and pray for these people in need.

How else can you serve God?

Living for God. Period. That line of "What would Jesus Do?" is true. Are you living a life Jesus would live to your fullest ability? Are you representing Christianity and Christ well? We all have our cross to bear. Are you picking yours up and carrying it? When others look at you, listen to you and watch you, can they see Christ in you?

If you are financially able, you can serve God in that way. Give where there is a need. See your money as being on loan by God, not your own. Everything you do including how you spend your money, is for Him.

Encourage others. Serve God by serving others. Maybe it's not in a physical way, but it is still serving. Connect with others in need on the internet. Reach out to loved ones or even strangers. Join facebook groups and answer that call when someone cries out for help. Be a figurative shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen, or a light in a dark world.

Lastly, devote yourself and your time to God. Do you regularly read the Bible? Do you pray throughout your day, not just a quick prayer but living life prayerfully in all things at all times? Do you stand against evil and stand up for your faith and the One who put you here? Do you desire to deepen your relationship with Jesus and grow as a Christian by learning what it means to be a Christian, studying the life of Jesus, and evangelizing even if "just" through the internet?

Be creative in what you do. But before you do anything, pray. Thank God that He put you here, repent of any sin, accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. Then ask Him, God how can I best serve you with the gifts, talents and abilities you have given me? Listen. And then act on those things with a heart for the Lord and a desire to surrender your life fully to Him. God bless you.

#Truth

It was laid on my heart to write a list of some things we all fail to remember:

  • We are not all alike. Repeat. We are NOT all alike.
  • What works for me might not work for you.
  • No one is right 100% of the time. That means at least sometimes, you are wrong. I am wrong.
  • We are all sinners.
  • We are not to point the finger when we do the same thing (sin) in a different way.
  • We all hurt from something.
  • People will try to show you the best of their life without showing you the worst of their life.
  • We will mistakenly compare the best of their life with the worst of our life.
  • The devil is at work. Always. Working very hard. Against you.
  • The devil will make you believe that what is wrong is actually right.
  • Thoughts lead to words that lead to actions. Control your thoughts.
  • The world isn't always black and white. But sometimes it is.
  • Some things are more important than others. Prioritize.
  • Some things are more important than others. Spend your money accordingly.
  • Some things are more important than others. Period.
  • Lend a hand when you can, not because you will get something in return.
  • Love... true love, agape love, is an action, not a feeling.
  • Most of what we worry about doesn't actually happen, stop worrying so much.
  • Happiness is an emotion, a very fleeting one. If your goal is happiness, you will never win.
  • "When all else fails, pray" is wrong. Pray first. Before everything. Good and bad.
  • Praying doesn't just mean asking for something. It means thanking, talking, listening.
  • Before you make fun of someone or blame them, consider their life obstacles were not the same as yours. Maybe they actually achieved more than you because they had less to work with.
  • Value your health. Seriously. Value every step, every breath, every moment you open your eyes and speak and listen, every bite you take, every smile you make.
  • It's not about you. Really, it's not.
  • Swallow your pride.
  • Ask for directions.
  • Ask for help.
  • Accept that help.
  • Pay it forward.
  • Don't run a red light, speed, or drink and drive. You are putting someone else's life at risk along with your own.
  • Sleep.
  • Eat to live don't live to eat.
  • Exercise in whatever way you can, even if it just means stretching every morning.
  • We need people in our life. We also need solitude.
  • God is good, all the time. And all the time, God is Good. - God does not change, we do, make that change a good one and keep your relationship with Him.
